The125th Czech Avant-Garde Book Design 1920's-'30s Exhibition
October 04, 1996 - October 26, 1996
This exhibition, which consisted of 120 book designs, provided visitors with a complete picture of the Czech Avant-Garde movement that blossomed from 1920-30. It was different from the many exhibitions held until now at the Ginza Graphic Gallery in that it focussed on a modern design movement. With the cooperation of Fairleigh Dickinson University in the U.S., many innovative book designs never seen before domestically were exhibited clearly showing the relationship between the social conditions of the times and designs. We should continue to look into the reaffirmation of the historical significance of modern designs such as these. Naomichi Kawabata
