This exhibit marked the first time that I decided to show posters made since 1970 under my own name. The process of selecting some sixty images created over a period of thirty years led me to a larger reflection on my works as a whole, and notably the elements of choice and chance that have determined it. For the first twenty years, all of my work had been signed with the generic name "Grapus," ten years afterward, it was important to me to be able to indicate my role in this collective history. And this is what the exhibit made possible. I know that my intimate relationship with these images -- now public knowledge -- in no way contradicts the collective process that brought them into being. In addition, the exhibit also gave me the opportunity to produce displays of other kinds of graphics projects, through which I hope to have shown that even in its most modest application, graphic design is something that demands enthusiasm and sensitivity.
