On this occasion, we are pleased to present “NOHIN: The Innovative Printing Company—New Printing Technology Supporting the Hyper-Gamut Society,” a solo exhibition by the young art director Heijiro Yagi (b. 1999) at ginza graphic gallery (ggg).
Heijiro Yagi is a member of the next generation after the so-called digital native generation. Working with the ZBrush software for three-dimensional computer graphics (3DCG), he has created a unique design style by seeking out textures that seem to fold three dimensions (space) into two dimensions (flat) and, paired with an interest in printing technologies, he has achieved the visual expression of his imagination.
The exhibition consists of two parts over two floors. On the first floor, Yagi has recast the corporate identity (CI) of the sci-fi-based fictional printing company NOHIN as objects and materials based on the rules and values of a parallel world. The exhibition on the basement floor showcases approximately 20 outstanding posters by 10 superstar designers in the history of Japanese graphic design. With deep respect for these designers, Yagi has reinterpreted each poster to create new work in the form of alternative possibilities in a parallel world where 3DCG exists.
