The 414th ginza graphic gallery Exhibition Kota Iguchi: Motion Graphics
May 26, 2026 - July 04, 2026
This exhibition focuses on the experimental aspect within his practice of adding time and space to graphics, which are conventionally rendered on a flat surface.
We are pleased to welcome guest collaborators Rei Ishi, Ryu Mieno, Taku Sasaki and Aki Kanai, who have created three new works presented on the first floor of the gallery venue. Each guest designer accepted a themed challenge to create new work based on basic elements of graphic design—combining geometrical shapes with regularity, lettering with embodiment, and paper with continuity—focusing on tracing the ideas that connect 2D graphics to 3D, and then to motion graphics. Together with the representative works by Kota Iguchi and CEKAI that fill the basement floor of the venue, the exhibition showcases the appeal and future potential of experiential and immersive visual communication.

Kota Iguchi
Motion Designer and Creative Director
Kota Iguchi is based in New York and Tokyo. While studying in the Department of Science of Design at Musashino Art University, Iguchi founded the company TYMOTE in 2008. In 2013, he went on to establish the creative association, CEKAI. As a motion designer, he specializes in motion graphics and live-action video based on dynamic design, and as a creative director, he is known for building collaborative teams. In 2020, Iguchi created the Tokyo 2020 Kinetic Sports Pictograms, a first in the history of the Olympic Games. He also participated as Video Director in the planning for the opening ceremony, producing the 3D animation for the drone performance at the Games. Recent works include eye-catching video performances using three-dimensional spaces, such as the 3D out-of-home (OOH) billboard for NIKE AirMax Day 2022, and projects for the Las Vegas Sphere. Iguchi has received numerous awards including the Tokyo TDC Award, the D&AD Yellow Pencil, the NY ADC Award, the AICP Show Design, and the AICP Post Awards for Motion Design and Graphics. Iguchi is a guest professor at Kyoto University of the Arts.
