Picture book editors play a central role in the process of bringing picture books to the world by connecting artists, illustrators, writers, and publishers. This exhibition will display representative picture books and original drawings that Daisuke Tsutsui, picture book editor, has edited to date, along with the words of 51 artists he has worked with.
Through his work, Tsutsui has attempted to expand picture book expression. His work with not only so-called picture book authors, but also with authors of other genres and new authors, is part of his pursuit of the possibilities of the picture book. I am always trying to go out of the picture book and beyond the picture book. He believes that this will ultimately lead to the enrichment of the world of picture books. We hope that this exhibition will provide an opportunity for as many people as possible to experience the further possibilities of picture book expression.
