At ginza graphic gallery this August, we will be holding an exhibition to showcase the 30 years of history of The International Poster Triennial in Toyama (IPT).
IPT is the only full-scale international poster competition in Japan, which has been held every 3 years since 1985. This year, the museum celebrates its 10th triennial, marking the world’s largest poster competition by collecting 4,622 entries. As a celebrative event, we will select and show the prize winning posters of the past 30 years.
From the 19th century to this day, poster has been the center of graphic design in every age. That is because posters use universal visual language, where graphic designer’s culmination of creativity and vision is, in a single instant, judged and praised. IPT is the place where designer’s vision is tested universally, and the chosen outstanding work is a mirror reflects our time, a witness of our time and continues to move us no matter what age we are in.
Further, we will publish an exhibition catalogue in tandem with the show.
