Collaborative Exhibition by kyoto ddd gallery and Seian University of Art and Design “.communication”
November 13, 2017 - November 28, 2017
■ Event Concept
Today, we can obtain huge volumes of information. We have learned that all sorts of people live in the various regions of the world, and that there is all sorts of corresponding information.
The information accessible is too vast, and there are limits on the amount of information a single human being can digest. It’s impossible to understand it all.
A certain piece of information is like a tree. To learn about it, some people reach for the leaves, while others reach for the branches and fruit. Even though they all try to learn about the same tree, they touch different parts, and, in the end, there are differences in the amount and quality of what they obtain.
This is where the aforementioned “gaps” are generated.
People meet halfway to fill in those gaps, or recognize that such gaps exist.
We decided to acknowledge that this is the very essence of “communication.”
The“.communication” (dot communication) exhibition is an attempt to connect our perspectives of learning about communication and design with the “.” (dot), and to find—through the exhibited works—the various gaps between things, people, and circumstances.
