groovisions  is a design studio that has been active in Kyoto since 1993 in the music field, with a focus on motion graphics. The studio relocated to Tokyo in 1997, and has worked in a variety of genres, mainly in the area of graphics. Their frameless approach is evident in “chappie,” a humanoid graphic design/system with no specific age, gender, or nationality assigned to it.
In this, the studio’s 30th year, ppp groovisions  is actually the studio’s first exhibition in Kyoto. The exhibition name comes from the venue’s name, ddd, flipped upside down. The experimental installations present the studio’s myriad design works via methods such as directly placing them on the gallery’s floors so they can be viewed from any angle. This unique exhibition provides a real taste of groovisions’ methodology and originality; please experience for yourself their distinct creative style, which blurs the lines between design and art.
