The March exhibition at ginza graphic gallery will be "APPLE+ Learning to Design, Designing to Learn" by Ken Miki. Mr. Miki’s innovative method of teaching how to design has been attracting attention. Focusing on the apple, a universally familiar fruit, students will be made aware of the joy and depth of designing. This method, presented at the AGI (Alliance Graphique Internationale) conference, won him a great reputation among the world top designers. The lecture was compiled and published by Lars Müller Publishers of Switzerland. "Designing is not only visualization, but it is to induce something to make itself visible," he says. You don’t want to miss this opportunity to experience a "new form of a class" designed by Ken Miki.
Below is the detailed information of the exhibition. We hope many of you can come and join us to celebrate the occasion.

Ken Miki Profile

Graphic designer born in Kobe in 1955. Established Ken Miki & Associates in 1982. Throughout his career he has undertaken “design by talking” – developing a design by a process similar to speaking – and “design by listening” – designing by probing the origins of things. Working from an underlying theme of “realizing from realization,” he infuses emotional communication into serene expression. His major works to date include the kit for the 2003 Icograda Congress in Nagoya, promotion of the ThinkPad for IBM Japan, Ltd., logomarks for BELLE MAISON, Osaka University of Pharmaceutical Sciences, KEIKYU Department Store, etc. In recent years a book about his “Apple” project – subtitled “Learning to Design, Designing to Learn” – was published in Switzerland (Lars Müller Publishers) for worldwide circulation. Among the numerous prizes he has received at home and abroad to date are the JAGDA New Designer Award, Japan Typography Annual Grand Prix, Tokyo Type Directors Club Bronze Award, International Poster Triennial in Toyama Silver Prize, New York Art Directors’ Club Bronze Award, etc. In addition to “APPLE,” he has also published “Ken Miki Selected Works 1994-2002” (amus arts press). He is a member of JAGDA, Tokyo TDC and AGI and a professor at Osaka University of Arts.
