To celebrate its reopening in April following renovation, ginza graphic gallery (ggg) will stage a 30th anniversary exhibition entitled Bridge Over Troubled Water: ggg Exhibition Posters 1986–2016.

As well as presenting a retrospective overview of ggg exhibitions through 360 posters ranging from the 1st exhibition in March 1986 of works by Tadashi Ohashi to the most recent special exhibition, Shin Sobue + cozfish: Book Design held at Hibiya Library and Museum, this event looks 10 and 20 years into the future.

The world of graphic design is in a state of turmoil both in Japan and abroad, but we must build a bridge to tomorrow and resolutely forge a path to the future. In this context, we have sought comments from world-leading overseas designers, commentators, and art museum curators on the theme of “An imagined direction for ggg: an assessment of its past record and anticipation of its future.” In conjunction with the exhibition we will publish an illustrated book which includes these comments.
