Formed in 1952, the Tokyo Art Directors Club (ADC) has a membership consisting of 81 leading Japanese art directors. All members take part in screening of works submitted for the annual Art Direction Exhibition, and the ADC Awards bestowed upon selected works from the exhibition draw attention both in Japan and internationally as prizes reflecting the latest trends in Japanese advertising and graphic design.

Since last year the exhibition was canceled due to the influence of the COVID-19, the works for this exhibition are selected by some 10,000 works that were released, used, or published over the 2 years from May 2019 to April 2021. Prizewinners and works for inclusion in the ART DIRECTION JAPAN 2020-2021 (ADC yearbook) are selected following rigorous screening by ADC members over 2 months. Before publication in the ADC Annual, prizewinning works and other outstanding entries will be displayed in two venues: Ginza Graphic Gallery (ggg) (works by ADC members) and the Creation G8 Gallery (other works).
